Allergies & Dietary Requirements
Do you cater for allergies or dietary requirements?
Please discuss any allergies or special dietary requirements with me at the point of enquiry. I offer various options, however please be aware that my kitchen handles wheat, dairy and nuts, so products may not be suitable for those with certain severe allergies.
Can you make gluten-free or dairy-free cakes?
I can accommodate some dietary requests — please get in touch to discuss your specific needs before ordering. I'll always be upfront about what's possible and any limitations in my kitchen environment.
Cake Care
How should I handle my cake when collecting it?
Please always lift from the bottom of the box — the cake sits on a drum which supports it properly. Lifting from the sides can weaken the box and risk damaging the cake.
How should I store my cake once I'm home?
Buttercream cakes should go straight in the fridge and be removed around two hours before you'd like to eat them. If you don't have fridge space, store in a cool room away from direct sunlight. Do not leave cakes in a hot room or car.
Delivery & Collection
Do you offer delivery?
Collection from Martlesham Heath is standard for all orders. If you’d like to arrange local delivery, just mention it when you enquire and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
Which areas do you serve?
The Cake Station is based in Martlesham Heath, between Ipswich and Woodbridge, and bakes for customers across East Suffolk — including Ipswich, Kesgrave, Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Rushmere St Andrew, Rendlesham, Melton, Grundisburgh, Framlingham, Wickham Market, Saxmundham, Aldeburgh, Stowmarket, Needham Market, Hadleigh and the villages in between. Collection is from Martlesham Heath — if you're not sure whether we cover your area, just ask.
Any tips for transporting a cake safely?
Place the cake on a flat surface — a clear boot or footwell is ideal. Try to keep the car cool (air con is your friend on warm days!). Don't stop and leave the cake unattended in a hot car. Once you're home, get it into the fridge.
Please note that we can't be held liable for any damage to items once they've left our premises — so take care on those corners!
Packaging
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes — we use eco-friendly, fully recyclable packaging wherever possible, including cupcake boxes, cake boxes and cake boards. We care about reducing waste and try to make the right choices when it comes to packaging.
Occasionally, tall cakes may be wrapped in cellophane to protect the decoration during transport. If you'd prefer we skip this, just let us know and we'll find an alternative.
Deposits & Payments
Do I need to pay a deposit to book?
Yes — we ask for a 25% deposit or £10 (whichever is greater) to hold the date. This can be paid by bank transfer; details will be provided on request.
Please note that deposits are non-refundable unless the order is cancelled by us.
How do I pay the remaining balance?
The remaining balance can be paid by cash or bank transfer on collection. If paying by bank transfer, please ensure payment is completed before collecting — we're unable to release orders until payment has been received in full.
What if I need to cancel my order?
If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. Deposits are non-refundable, but we'll always try to work with you where we can. If we need to cancel on our end for any reason, you'll receive a full refund.
